Final Regular Season Game of Fall, Kentucky Hosts Florida

by Cami Moore

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Just one week ahead of the 2020 Southeastern Conference Tournament in Orange Beach, Alabama, the University of Kentucky women’s soccer team will host Florida for its fall finale under the lights on Friday, November 6 at 7 p.m. ET at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex. The contest will be carried on SEC Network+, with Dave Baker and Payton Atkins on the call.

The attendance plan at the Wendell & Vickie Bell Soccer Complex is limited to a player guest and coach guest pass list only, but fans are encouraged to follow along through live scoring or tune into SEC Network+.

Kentucky concludes its reduced fall season at home, culminating an eight-game fall schedule that featured four home games and four road games, all against conference opponents, including six eastern division opponents and two western division opponents. Meanwhile, the team is in preparation for its first SEC Tournament appearance since 2015.

The Wildcats own a 0-4-3 record this fall heading into the Friday night contest, including playing two of the nation’s top-15 teams to 1-1 draws against then-No. 8 Georgia and at then-No. 14 Auburn.

Kentucky has held a pair of notable leads in the conference all season long, as Jordyn Rhodes, a sophomore, is the outright leader in goals and Brooke Littman, a redshirt senior transfer from Notre Dame, is the outright leader in saves.

Just last week, Rhodes scored her fifth goal of the season, which leads the roster and the conference, while she also leads the roster in career goals in just less than two full seasons, owning 13. The threat upfront is 3-of-3 on penalty kicks, after knocking one in low and left in the 89th minute against Missouri last Sunday afternoon. Rhodes is also second in the league in shots, taking 26 this fall, just one off from the leader, while she has aimed 46 percent of those on frame.

In the net, Littman has been a valuable addition to the team this season, recording a conference-high 43 saves through week seven, averaging six saves a game, which is also a league high.

The Gators are 1-4-1, earning their lone win against then-No. 15 Alabama in a 2-1 decision in week two. Freshman Maddy Rhodes is their leading goal scorer, earning two goals in six games and just three games as a starter. She also leads the team in shots on goal, aiming six at the net. The Blue and Orange have scored eight goals on 10 assists this season, which ties for seventh and fourth in the league.

Florida owns the lead in the all-time series against Kentucky, 23-4-2. It’s been more than five years since UK has defeated UF, last doing so on October 19, 2014 in a 2-0 shutout.
